Special ProgramsSCHOLARSHIP AWARDS The New Jersey Association of School Social Workers is offering scholarship awards in the amount of $500.00 to graduating seniors, who have been identified as Eligible for Special Education and Related Services, who intend on going to postgraduate training: vocational, journeyman, county community or four year colleges. We will be awarding five students with this incentive statewide.
The NJASSW is dedicated to serving the student, family, and school community. We believe in maximizing academic opportunities and enhancing problem solving, decision- making, and interpersonal skills in students. We help parents participate effectively in their children's educational program, using appropriate school and community resources. We assist teachers in understanding and providing resources to help them effectively work with all students.
To nominate a potential student for consideration for this special award please send a letter of recommendation to our Student Scholarship chairperson:

Please include recommendation supporting data and brief background of the student's growth and academic development within his/her special education program and future goals. In addition, please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope (addressed to the individual making the recommendation). The decisions will be based on the review of information provided and will be made on or about June 1, 2008. All materials must be received by April 30, 2008.
